Summer Sight-Singing Seminar

Week Five-Daily Routine

Our last meeting is Thursday, August 20th, and we will be celebrating our achievements with The Sight-Singing Olympics. There will be individual and team events, and this week's daily routine is set up to prepare you for the events.
1. Vocalise Time Trials-Individual and Relays:
  • Sing up/down the scale on solfege syllables, beginning on do(Major), then la(minor)
  • Sing the 3rds exercises, by step and by leap, beginning on do, then la
  • Sing up and down the chromatic scale
  • Sing the interval jump exercise below (from do and from la)
  • Sing the triad exercise below.

  • Starting on do, sing up to each scale tone, always coming back to do in between. Then try it coming down from high do (as below). Work toward accuracy and fluency.
  • Using the same pattern, slow it down and name the interval between each pitch as you sing them---d-r, that's a 2nd, d-m, that's a 3rd...

  • Build and sing a triad on each scale degree.  Do mi so mi do, re fa lafa re...

2. Do 5 minutes of sight-singing at Ella/Sight Sing Pro. Be sure to use solfege syllables.
3. Work on the drills at musicca.com
