 Rehearsal Resources 2020

Make some music!
Feeling isolated? Nothing to do? Why not follow the shepherds’ example and while away the hours getting good at music? Here are some ideas and resources to help you.
Daily Concert
-Schedule a performance time- after dinner? sunset? whatever works for you/your family.
-Practice a song to perform- sing, play, whatever. Just one, more? Choose one you know or make one up. It can change daily.
-Invite each person to contribute or do an ensemble piece.(anyone can do a percussion part)
-If you’re happy with the result, record it and send it to a friend and/or to me and I'll post it on our website so we can all enjoy a daily concert.
-If you live alone, we'll be your audience- or take it to the porch/yard/window/balcony and share with your neighborhood.
Last night the kids 2 doors down and I had a recorder fest, sight unseen. The worst you'll get is a "please stop" from an equally anonymous person.
Phone Tag
-
Record a song
-send it to a friend
-have them play it and record themselves adding another track (harmony, percussion, instrumental, whatever)
-keep passing it on until it seems "done"
-send to all involved.
-If you’re happy with the result, record it and send it to a friend and/or to me and I'll post it on our website

Let us know if you're willing to play here.

Here is a low tech, if spatially confounding example.
Online Theory Practice

Learn to play an instrument-- pick up that instrument that's been gathering dust. YouTube can show you how to play pretty much anything.
No Instrument? No Problem.
Spoons
Bottles
Sweet Potato/Squash
Miscellaneous Items
Glasses-the struggle is real
You can also, of course, practice your music. At some point we'll sing it.

Esti Dal -Kodály

English translation of "Esti Dal", Kodály, Zoltán
Evening darkness overtook me near the woods;
I have put my coat under my head (i.e. as a pillow),
I have put my hands together
To pray to the Lord, like this:
Oh, my Lord, give me a place to sleep,
I am weary with wandering,
With walking around and hiding,
With living on foreign land.
May Lord give me a good night,
May he send me a holy angel,
May he encourage our hearts' dreams,
May he give us a good night.
